Sharing Our Hearts – Personal Testimony

Remember to send us your testimony so that we can all be encouraged by, and celebrate, what God is doing in your life. We are sharing personal testimonies for the month of August.

It Does Not Last Forever
Over the past few years our family has lived in 3 different countries. Each time we moved, it had been at God’s command. In each place there was something that had to be accomplished and looking back, I can say that we accomplished. We saw God’s provision, His faithfulness (a favorite Godly character of mine), His promise keeping ability and yet things were hard in the natural.
God provided our daily bread. Just our daily bread and we were thankful. Our lives were scaled back. We had to decide where to go and not to go based on how much gas was in the car and the available money to put more. Many days we drove with the gas light on to get to work, praying as we went and that gas got us to work and back home.

Then one day, suddenly, the most consistent source of income we had, stopped. With no warning. It was as though, the bottom had fallen out from under us and even though I knew that God had a plan, the fact that I could see nothing was scary. We would have to move. Again.

I resisted at first. I twisted and turned things around to try and stay where we were but that was my desire, not God’s plan. So He whispered to my heart ,’ My time for you to be here is over. Time to move on.’

So we moved, in obedience, to the place where we live now and His favour has abounded. It has over taken us and left us in awe. This season is, financially, opposite to the last and I thank Him every day. I could not have fathomed this but it is all Him. Every success we have is because of God. The favour that we have seen from man is all due to favour with God.

Hold on. It might seem as though the up hill climb or the desert is lasting forever. Hold on. He is faithful. Trust Him to do what is best for you. It does not last forever.

  1. Hi Marisse

Thanks so much for sharing. This is a difficult season for my family as well and some days it is really difficult to stay focused on the fact that God is with us and will not let us down. But I believe this is what we are supposed to be doing and I continue to press on and in whilst waiting for my new season to start.

May God continue to bless you and your family richly, it was a pleasure getting to meet and know you all.

    • Thank you for your comment and your kind words Kay. I understand when you say it’s hard to focus. There were times when the only thing that kept me moving was the knowledge that God was there. Keep moving, keep pressing, keep worshiping, keep praising. He will do it. He is worthy in every circumstance and He is faithful.
