Wrap yourself in His word.

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Life is busy. From one day to the next things need to be done. From work, to home, to friends and family. We make lists with categories and subcategories. And what is not done today, is transferred to tomorrow; making tomorrow’s list longer. We can sometimes go at a dizzying pace.

We may know days like that; seasons like that. Times when it seems as if 24 hrs just are not enough and slowing down might mean that the master plan crumbles.

It is in the midst of all the swirling lists, dates and appointments that I hear the still small voice “Remember me. Remember My word. You need My word”. It’s not a plea and often not a command. It’s a statement of truth. One that could either be ignored or embraced.

So feeling a little sheepish, I sit to read and that is where the refreshing begins. The word washes. It brings peace and security. The word of God strengthens us and encourages us. In His word, there is a place of intimacy as we allow our innermost thoughts to be adjusted and our deepest hurts to be healed.

In Heb 4:12 we see that the word is living and powerful. God’s word is LIFE but that life can only become real to us if we mix the word with faith. Going beyond just reading pages, and coming to a place where the Holy Spirit can talk to us, and show us new things. Even scriptures that have been read before, can have new significance.

God has poured Himself into His word and in reading it, we can hear His heart and His voice. Let us be guided daily by the word (Psalm 119:105). Meditate on it night and day. Don’t read it and forget it. There are times when one passage can stay in our hearts for days as we mull it over and the Holy Spirit brings understanding.

How can we know –
What God says about us? Jer 1:5
His promises to us? 2 Cor 1:20
How to defeat the enemy in our lives? James 4:7
How to live our lives? Matt 4:4

God tells us –
that we are more than conquerors
that He numbers the hairs on our heads
that He will never leave us or forsake us
that He has given us all things for life and Godliness..

These are a few examples of what God says. As we read, understand, learn and know, then our lives are re-shaped as the wisdom of God leads us in all circumstances. We must speak the word over our lives and the lives of others. The word is relevant in all situations. In midst of trying times, it might seem difficult to believe the promises but God’s word is truth! No matter what we see in the natural.

There will always be things to do and deadlines to meet but God’s word must be foremost in our lives. No compromise!
God has freely given us His word so that we may have lives of strength and accuracy. Let us wrap ourselves in His word so that we will walk in the way that God intended.

Below are some verses about God’s word. Enjoy the adventure of discovering many more. Use these words and SPEAK LIFE!

John 6:63 NKJV
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Romans 10:17 NKJV
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Isaiah 40:8 NKJV
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”

Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
